Cabin baggage

To minimise the time you spend at the airport, please take the time to prepare your baggage carefully. Most airlines allow you to travel with one item of cabin baggage and to check-in other baggage in the hold. However, the weight and number of baggage items allowed in the hold or cabin may differ depending on the airline, fare class and destination.

Important: We kindly ask that you limit your cabin baggage to the strict minimum.

If you have excess baggage that you cannot take onboard, you must mention this to a member of staff. Once this baggage has been handed over, it cannot be recovered.

Useful information

Please note: some airlines consider handbags to be cabin baggage in their own right. In this case, you will have to choose between your handbag and your cabin baggage or place your handbag inside your cabin baggage.

Certain products are only prohibited in the cabin, but can be placed in checked in baggage, while others are allowed in the cabin subject to specific conditions.

Baggage policy

Depending on the airline you travel with, the baggage accepted in the cabin varies in number, weight and size. Check your airline’s baggage policy below: ; 

If your baggage is larger or heavier than the allowance permitted, additional charges will be payable at the airport, via the airline desk located in your departure terminal.

Products prohibited

The following items could pose a risk to the health and safety of you and other passengers, and are prohibited in hand baggage:

  • Pointed, sharp or sharp-edged items;
  • Blunt or neutralising items;
  • Work tools;
  • Any type of self-defence spray;
  • More generally, any item that could be used as a weapon, catch fire or implode; 
  • (Non-exhaustive list).

Products allowed

However, the following elements are allowed in quantities appropriate for the length of stay:

  • Products placed in a sealed bag provided by the airport;
  • Liquid products purchased at the airport (Duty free) accompanied by their sales receipt, and subject to customs restrictions;
  •  Food for babies or young children necessary for the trip (regardless of their capacity);
  • Medicines (liquid, gel, paste or cream) necessary during the flight, upon presentation of a prescription;
  • Insulin and syringes for diabetic passengers, which must be accompanied by a prescription (remember to inform a member of staff when checking in).

 

To carry liquids (drinks, perfumes, lotions, etc.), cosmetics (creams, gels, makeup, etc.) or aerosols (deodorants, hairspray, etc.) in your hand baggage, always remember the following rules: 

  • They must fit in tubes/containers of less than 100 ml;
  • The quantity must be legible on the container;
  • They must be presented in a transparent resealable plastic bag (one bag per person, with a capacity of 1 litre and maximum size 20 x 20 cm). 

 

Important: all liquids must be presented separately from your baggage when going through security.

 

Please note: reusable empty water bottles and containers can be taken through hand baggage checks. You can then refill them in the boarding lounges. A dispenser is available to you just before security checks.

Useful tips

Before leaving for the airport:

  • I check that the size of my baggage complies with the dimensions allowed by my airline.
  • I check the weight of my suitcase to avoid paying extra when I arrive at the airport.
  • I attach a label to my suitcase with my first and last name, address and phone number.
  • I peel off any label and barcode from my previous trip.
  • I put distinctive sign on my suitcase so I do not confuse it with another passenger’s suitcase.
  • I carefully pack any fragile item.
  • I only put things that are essential or valuable in my cabin suitcase, and put everything else in my checked in baggage.

 

At the airport:

  • I never leave my baggage unattended – not even for a moment, otherwise it could be destroyed and I may not be allowed to board the plane.
  • I report any abandoned baggage or packages to airport officials.
  • I never accept any baggage or packages from a third person.
